Primary Cell Lines

Primary cell lines are not propagated beyond a single intended use and are the first in-vitro cultivation of cells taken directly from animal tissue. To produce the primary culture, CellPro Labs uses enzymes to separate the cells of the original tissue and places these cells in growth medium to develop the culture for final use by clients. The primary cell lines are then used to cultivate, amplify and isolate viruses to a detectable level for the purpose of identifying a stated virus or virus group. Primary Cell Lines can be used to isolate and identify viruses for diagnostic, research, development or industrial purposes.

Primary Rhesus Monkey Kidney, Mucaca mulatta (RMK) tissue cultures are used in the cultivation, amplification and isolation of viruses from patient samples. Patient specimens can originate from various body sites (e.g., oral, bronchial-alveolar, blood, urine, etc.)

 
RMKa (w/ SV5 & SV40 antiserum) Primary Rhesus Monkey Kidney, Mucaca mulatta, with SV5 and SV40 antiserum (RMKa) are used in the cultivation, amplification and isolation of viruses from patient samples. Simian viruses are endogenous in RMK tissue cultures. The presence of Simian Viruses can possibly interfere with isolations of the virus. The addition of SV5 and SV40 antisera to the medium may inhibit the growth of these Simian Viruses.
